Awful Service and Lack of Accommodation

We reserved a King "Non-Smoking" room at the Lakeview Inn in Lucerne, CA on Monday, March 18, 2024. Upon entering the promised room (#118), we smelled the strong stench of cigarette smoke and also found the floor sticky. When we then complained to the night attendant and requested a room change, we were told that promised room is supposed to be non-smoking and something about an elderly couple who stayed there the previous night with no issues. There was no apology given to us for this circumstance and inconvenience. We were then told that the only other type of room available at the property was a double queen room and we would have to pay an extra $23 + tax on top of the King Non-Smoking rate for that room. We requested that any extra fee for the substitute room be waived given that we were not able to use the King Non-Smoking room that we were promised. The night manager said no and that we would have to be charged the extra fee if we wanted the substitute room. In that double queen room (#106) then given to us, we experienced the following: Coffee maker filthy; we had to clean it before use. Bed and pillows were hard, causing a difficult night's sleep There was no hot water for our showers (or in the bathroom sink) the next morning. We had to take COLD showers! We contacted the owner the next day and requested that an apology and an immediate refund be issued to compensate us for our inconveniences and disappointments. We have at this time not heard back from him.

dirty, smelly, and ok if u r a crackhead. Lock your car. Don't leave anything of value in sight. Not worth the monu you will save. A bad area and a bad motel. The staf suck also. I would rather sleep in my car.

Let’s understand the baseline for my motel and hotel reviews. I could care less about four or five stars. Mostly I’m traveling and looking for a place to spend the night. Highest on my list is ‘clean and comfortable’ followed by ‘price performance’ Clean is what it is. Comfortable includes that everything functions well – bed, bath, TV and these days Internet Third thing is I want fresh air. So an opening window with a screen is also required. It’s amazing how many don’t make these minimums This one surpassed them all – Actually cross flow fresh air ventilation, a rare find. Highly recommended

Initially our stay was nice. Front desk personnel were friendly enough. We had two adjoining rooms with the bathroom in the middle which was nice since we were two with our grown son. Also along was our dog due to the evacuation process. We were grateful to find a room to sit out the evacuation which we expected to be much shorter than it turned out. My biggest beef is the lack of compassion when it came to the financial burden the extended stay put on me and my family during the whole fire ordeal. They could have given us a better deal or even have waived the pet fee - especially to have charged us for it day after day. C'mon. THAT would have helped me to feel there was better customer service. There was a strange request for my brother who initially was paying for our room to send his credit card info via email to them. nope don't think so. I mean really? They said that was the owners policy if paid by someone outside of the ones staying there. Other than that they were 'accommodating' with our requests for more coffee, shampoo and extra towels. There was no chair in either room and my husband's back was really feeling the pain of just sitting on the side of the bed for four days straight. They provided a folding camping style one which was appreciated. I don't think we would recommend this place....a little high for the area we feel being residents in nearby Nice. However considering the situation of the crisis we were thrown into by the fire.....we appreciated their efforts but not the fees. Eventually we were EVEN evacuated from this motel as well and had to leave the entire area! But certainly not management's fault as they left too.

I booked the room via bookings.com. When we arrived the office had a horrible odor and when we got into the room, the room was twice as bad. I don't know if it's an Indian incense smell or what but it was totally unbearable. It was NOT a pet smell. There was also blood stained on the sheets.Yuk. The motel owner was very defensive when I told him about these issues. I wouldn't suggest anyone staying there if you have any type of allergies or like clean sheets.
